Tax recording obligation for sales: Poland's measures since 1993

The laws were introduced to promote the fight against tax evasion and ensure the tax honesty of companies. In 1993, Poland started introducing a recording obligation for sales by taxable companies. Cash registers with fiscal printers became mandatory. If the fiscal memory is full, it must be replaced by an approved body.

Polish VAT Act 2004: cash register obligation and fiscalization fiscalization

The Polish VAT Act of 2004 requires companies that sell goods or services to use cash registers and sets turnover limits that must be adjusted depending on the company's date of establishment. They must also provide an SAF-T export from their ERP system as a standard export.

Since 2019, Poland has been gradually switching to online fiscalization, in which transactions and receipts are sent directly to the tax authorities via the Internet. By working with efsta, companies can benefit from a smooth implementation of the regulations and efficiently manage their tax obligations in Poland.

  • Cash register obligation: Taxable companies that sell goods or services are required to record their sales using cash registers.
  • Electronic records: The obligation to keep electronic records depends on certain revenue limits.
  • Proportional adjustment: Depending on the company's opening date, the revenue limits from which the cash register obligation applies must be adjusted proportionally.
  • We support fiscalization via POSNET & Exorigo UPOS printers: These are online printers that are compliant with the online fiscalization rules.
  • ‍Special features of PL printers: Items that have already been sold may not change their tax class.
