The secure interface for POS, ERP, and PMS providers to comply with i.EKA requirements. Lithuania is modernizing its fiscalization system with i.EKA as part of the i.MAS Smart Tax Administration System. With efsta Fiscal Middleware, existing systems can be connected to the i.EKA security module in compliance with regulations.
Contact consultantLithuania has had a fiscalization system with mandatory receipt issuance in place since 1996. With the introduction of i.EKA, the country is adopting a hybrid model combining hardware and software. New requirements have been in effect since 2023 and will become mandatory for all taxable businesses starting in May 2025. These include, among other things, new security modules for encrypted receipt signing, real-time data transmission to the tax authority Valstybinė mokesčių inspekcija (VMI), and the certification of point-of-sale systems and cryptographic components.
All point-of-sale systems must be connected to a certified i.EKA security module. Fiscalization does not take place directly within the point-of-sale system, but rather via a defined technical interface.

The efsta Fiscal Middleware serves as an interface between your point-of-sale system and the i.EKA security module. Our solution does not replace the i.EKA device, but rather complements it in compliance with regulations. The Fiscal Middleware handles the secure processing of transactions and journal storage – similar to other countries where fiscalization is required.

Benefit from:
The i.EKA fiscalization system is the official system used by the Lithuanian tax authority (VMI) to monitor point-of-sale systems. Its purpose is to record all sales in a secure, structured, and tamper-proof manner. Once the system becomes mandatory, all electronic point-of-sale systems in Lithuania must be connected to an i.EKA security module.
Yes. The i.EKA security module is required by law and cannot be replaced. The efsta Fiscal Middleware complements this device as a technical interface and ensures simple, legally compliant integration into your POS system, ERP, or PMS.
Your system sends sales data to efsta Fiscal Middleware via API. efsta handles the fiscal processing, the secure storage of journal data, and communication with the i.EKA security module—without requiring you to develop the entire fiscal processing logic yourself.
All tax-related sales and transaction data must be submitted in a structured format. In addition, a defined formatting logic is used to ensure that documents can be generated correctly and in compliance with the law via the i.EKA system.
Receipts are printed using the fiscal functions of the i.EKA system. Sales data is transferred to efsta, processed in accordance with fiscal regulations, and then printed correctly and in compliance with the law via the i.EKA security module.
efsta stores all tax-related journal entries in an audit-proof manner, thereby meeting the Lithuanian tax authority’s requirements for retention, security, and traceability.
