POS systems and Fiscal Data Modules (FDM) must be certified and transmit POS data in real time to the SPF Finance Cloud. The transition period for implementing SCE 2.0 has been extended again and now runs until July 1, 2026. It had previously been set to end on April 1. efsta is already developing a new, compliant solution.
In Belgium, companies that process electronic payments are legally obliged to use a certified POS system and a "Fiscal Data Module" (FDM). The FDM, also known as "Black Box", "Zwarte Doos" or "Boîte Noire", plays a central role in the collection and transmission of transaction data to the tax authority in real time. The aim is to combat tax fraud and make financial activities more transparent.
