QR code on RKSV-compliant receipts: Securely and tamper-proof verification of important transaction data

The QR code on an RKSV-compliant receipt is a two-dimensional, machine-readable representation of the most important transaction data. It contains encoded information that is related to the digital signature of the transaction and facilitates the verification of receipt integrity.

The QR code is printed on every cash sales receipt and can be read and verified by the tax authorities or consumers using a special app or software.

The QR code on the receipt contains the following encrypted data, which is relevant for verifying the transaction:

Cash register identification number

Unique identifier of the cash register in which the transaction was carried out.

Receipt number

A sequential number that is uniquely assigned to each transaction.

Date and time of transaction

The exact time at which the transaction took place.

Gross amount of the transaction

The total amount of the transaction, including taxes.

Signature value

The digital signature value of the transaction, which was generated by the signature creation unit (SCE).

Chaining value

A hash value that ensures the chaining of transactions by containing the hash of the previous transaction.

This data enables manipulation checks and can be compared with the data stored in the cash register to verify that the receipt is genuine.
