SCE 2.0 in Belgium postponed. New deadline for POS systems is January 1, 2026

efsta is already working on a new solution to optimally support partners in complying with the requirements.

What companies in Belgium need to know now: SCE 2.0 starts later

With SCE 2.0, Belgium aims to raise tax compliance in the POS area to a new digital level.

The Belgian tax authorities officially announced on June 25, 2025, that the introduction of SCE 2.0 (Système de Caisse enregistreuse) will be postponed. Instead of July 1, 2025, as originally planned, the new regulation will now come into force on January 1, 2026. To the official announcement of the tax authority

According to the official announcement by the Belgian tax authorities, a staggered transition from July 1, 2026 is planned for existing systems under SCE 1.0, depending on the commissioning date of the respective POS system.

Reasons for the postponement

The postponement was necessary because no new POS systems or FDMs are currently available that would be compatible with the SCE 2.0 specification.

In addition, the Belgian government is examining whether to extend the obligation to use SCE 2.0 to other sectors beyond the HORECA sector in the future.
