DE Reporting obligation for 2025

Learn all about the new reporting requirements for electronic cash register systems and TSEs in Germany from 1 January 2025 and how Efsta supports you in complying.

Important information on the new reporting requirements for electronic cash register systems

On June 28, 2024, the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) issued an update on the reporting requirements for cash registers and the TSEs used:

From 1 January 2025, all taxpayers are required to transmit their electronic recording systems - cash registers - as well as the TSE(s) used to the authorities.

The taxpayer is responsible for reporting the required cash register data. All electronic recording systems acquired before July 1, 2025 within the meaning of § 1 paragraph 1 sentence 1 KassenSichV must be recorded by July 31, 2025 at the latest - including the TSE(s) used.

The BMF letter also regulates the obligation to notify EU taximeters and distance recorders. The decommissioning of systems must also be reported or recorded.

How can it be recorded:

  • Electronic data transmission will be possible from January 1, 2025 via „Mein ELSTER“ and the ERiC interface.
  • All systems at a business location must be reported uniformly in an XML data file.
  • The electronic data transmission will be possible from January 1, 2025 via the „Mein ELSTER“ program and via the ERiC interface. It is particularly important to note that all electronic recording systems at a business location must always be transmitted in a uniform notification - if, for example, you use different systems for room management and gastronomy in a hotel, these must always be reported together in a data file (XML), taking into account the business location!

How efsta supports you with this:

The data required for reporting to the authorities is already recorded in our Efsta portal: serial number of the electronic recording system (cash registers, ERP systems, etc.), the serial number of the connected TSE solution (regardless of whether Cloud TSE or Hardware TSE as well as TSE server solutions - all TSEs certified by the BSI are recorded) - purchase or commissioning date of all components. From 1.1.2025, we will offer a corresponding XML data export of the legally required information in the Efsta Portal.

The XML data is formatted in such a way that an upload via the „Mein ELSTER“ program and the ERiC interface will be possible for the taxpayer: this is Compliance as a Service!

efsta is the solution for your requirements regarding the new reporting obligation. Thanks to our efficient EFR and the data already recorded in the efsta Portal, you can be sure that all necessary information is transmitted correctly and on time.
