We are delighted to share an important milestone for efsta and our partners across Europe: efsta is now officially a PEPPOL Access Point Certified Provider. We now have an Access Point Certificate and are listed in the OpenPEPPOL Certified Service Provider registry.
With this certification, we are further expanding our e-invoicing capabilities and ensuring that we are prepared in advance for upcoming regulatory requirements in key European markets.
Standardized B2B e-invoicing has been mandatory in Belgium since January 1, 2026. Most companies registered for sales tax will have to exchange electronic invoices via PEPPOL as a transmission network in the future.
PEPPOL BIS Billing 3.0 in accordance with EN 16931 is used as the reference format. A functioning PEPPOL connection is therefore essential for companies that issue invoices to Belgian business partners.
With our certified access point, efsta connects your invoicing processes directly to the PEPPOL network. This allows you to reliably send standardized e-invoices to companies and prepare specifically for Belgian compliance requirements.
At the same time, you don't have to worry about time-consuming PEPPOL onboarding, as efsta operates the certified access point entirely for you. efsta acts as a secure and compliant interface between your ERP, POS, or invoicing system and your customers' PEPPOL endpoint.
In order to send e-invoices via PEPPOL, you first need a certified access point. This is exactly what efsta provides.
Put simply, an SMP (Service Metadata Publisher) is a directory in which companies store information about which documents they can receive via PEPPOL and which access point they can be reached via. This is particularly relevant if a company wants to receive invoices itself or be actively found in the network.
However, this is not necessary for many use cases, especially when sending e-invoices to existing business partners. Thanks to the certified efsta Access Point, you can send your invoices directly via PEPPOL without having to set up your own SMP at the outset.
This makes getting started with PEPPOL much easier and faster, while efsta takes care of the technical connection in the background.
PEPPOL certification forms the basis for the next step. Our focus is now on further simplifying PEPPOL-based e-invoicing for efsta partners. We are starting with Belgium and will gradually expand our offering to other countries where PEPPOL is becoming increasingly important.
If you want to prepare for Belgian legislation coming into force in 2026 or implement cross-border e-invoicing via PEPPOL efficiently, efsta is happy to assist you as a reliable partner: Contact us now.
